How do I know if there are fish eggs in my tank?

I have 4 goldfish, 3 of which are just regular, 19 cent goldfish. How would I know if there are eggs in my tank? I haven't changed the water in quite a while, but I do not need to because I have it filtered and the water stays clear. They have just now started to change that orange color (they started off gray). Would eggs in my 2.5 gal. tank be obvious? Or do goldfish even lay eggs often... or maybe my fish are too young. I don't know anything about them. I've had them about 2 months.

Your fish are too young to lay eggs.  Also, a 2.5 gallon tank is completely innappropriate for even 1 goldfish, let alone 4.  Fancy goldfish need 20 gallons for the first fish, and 10 gallons for every fish after that.  Common goldfish need 50 gallons for the first fish.

Keeping your goldfish in that tank is going to cause them a lot of suffering and WILL result in an early death.  Please move them to an appropriately sized tank before you do anything else.

If they're small enough to be in a 2.5 gallon tank, there won't be any eggs.  Goldfish mature at about 6 inches, if I remember right, and you can't get 2 6" goldfish live in a 2.5 gallon tank, much less spawn.  Full grown, they can get to 18 inches if they're the common variety.  You would probably need at least 55 gallons for spawning.  I kept mine in a pond and that's the best place to keep them and spawn them.

There really is no way to tell, but all of the sudden you will see little tiny baby fish.....feed your fish normally even though there are baby's

no they will only lay eggs in a 10gallon or bigger, and they will have a white spot on theyre heads, i had a 2.5gallon yesterday and bought a 10gall 2day. the eggs would be pretty obvious, in the plants, they will form a clot-like blob or clump. hope  i helped

eggs look like slime in a cluster like lil bubbles and are hard to see.
