How do I know that I'm in love with some guy over the internet that I really care about?

I have met with this dude more than once this year and he has met with my parents and my parents have met with him.

You can't. If you've only met the guy on the internet and haven't met him in person, you can't be in love. Love takes time to develop from a lot of time spent with a person, and not just chatting. The chatting part is only a small portion of who the person is.

I would strongly urge you to try to keep yourself from being in love with someone you have never met.  It could all change very quickly when you meet irl - or it may not.  But I would do my best to keep it semi-casual until you actually meet- and then if it works out when you meet, feel great about falling hard, but dont do it before you meet.
