How do I find out what dpi my photo is? I need at least 300 dpi but don't know how to see if I have that resolution. How would I make 300 dpi using Photoshop?

  1. If you're creating a file in Photoshop, you can specify on the New File dialog box what resolution you want. I think the default resolution is 72dpi, which is standard for Web pictures.

I don't know what source you're getting your photo from, but if you can copy it, do so, then go into Photoshop and choose New>From clipboard, then look at what it says in the dialog box. Like I mentioned earlier, if your source is the Internet, you're probably going to have 72dpi.

You can change the resolution of a photo by creating a file in Photoshop with the resolution you want, then pasting into that file the photo you want. If it comes in really small, that just means the resolution was low to begin with. You can enlarge it, but you'll have to be careful how big you go, because it will get pixelated.
