  1. Well, normally reactions to injections occur within the first 24 hours. Is he groggy? Eyes clear or glassy? How hot is it where you are? Is the breathing raspy or shallow or otherwise abnormal?

  2. Heartworm treatment will not cause your dog to pant.  It has no known side effects of any kind.

  3. After a dog's been treated for heartworm, you want to really restrict his activity.  You don't want the dog worked up so that the worms don't "break up" and travel to the lungs where they cause death.  I'd call your vet, but I'm also pretty sure that coughing is a lot worse of a sign then panting.  Try and keep him cool and comfortable and as still and relaxed as you can.  Good luck!

  4. im not a vet but i wouldnt worry to much all dogs pant! check his mouth if his gums arent bright pink get him to the vet if they are ok dont panic!
