  1. Actually, Specialized has a saddle measurement system.  It is too bad more people don't know about it.

With the Specialized system, you sit (fully clothed) on a gel pad.  Your pelvic bones will make indentations in the pad.  You measure the width of the indentations and buy the appropriate width saddle.  By using their measuring system, I found I have a very narrow pelvic structure and require a very narrow saddle.  (My kids have always told me I am a tight a$$.)

Anyhow, I have one of their road saddles.  It is very well designed, quite light and quite comfortable.  Unfortunately, while building up a new bike, I left the saddle lying on the work bench and my son took the opportunity to abscond with it.  It is now firmly affixed to his bike and he won't give it up.  I will very likely buy another in the future.

In any case, even if you don't buy a Specialized saddle, you can try sitting on their gel pad at a Specialized dealer and get an idea of the width of your pelvic structure.

    Hope this helps.

  2. alot of shops have demo saddles for what they sell (WTB and Selle Italia for example) or they'll have a try-before -you-buy or exchange program.

  3. get a mans dude size

  4. Unfortunately there is no measuring system for saddles. Most cyclists learn what type of saddle they like by buying lots of saddles and trying them out. If you are a casual rider you will probably want a wider saddle. I would recommend going to a bike shop and getting some advice. They may have bikes with different saddles that you can test ride.
