How do I know what size of snowboard to get?

I want to learn how to snowboard, my friends go snowboarding often and I want to be able to go when I know how...I figure first step is getting a board then going from there with lessons from somewhere. I'm probably a nerd for not knowing how to snowboard, it doesn't look all that easy but I'm a fast learner; anyway if there is any other advice any one can give me I'd appreciate it! Thanks..

  1. it depends on how big you r . if you go 2 a shop and ask they will get you a good size for how big u r

  2. It depends on you weight and a little on foot size. If you have an average foot size you should not have to worry. If your feet are bigger then normal then you might have to go with a wider board.

Now weight is the MAJOR issue when buying a board. Not how tall you are . Most snowboard shops will tell you its depends on height but that is false. A good shop will ask you your weight and what you intend on riding or your style. Since you are new you don't have much of a style yet. It really depends on weight.

Make sure you buy the board that is fit for you. Don't buy a board because of the cool look or the brand name. What it boils down to is its 90% rider ability and 10% board on how you ride.

Another thing to consider is your boots. Make sure you go and try some on. Then make a choice from there. In my opinion boots are more improtant then the board or bindings. If your boots are not comfy you will feel it on the mountain. Make sure to try different pairs also and then try finding them on ebay or someplace on the internet. I guarantee they will be cheaper then the shop.

    Hope this helps a little.
