A nitrogen atom has 7 protons, 7 neutrons, and 7 electrons. More info. How would I draw the structure of this nitrogen atom? Can you explain? How would this atom become stable?

  1. The nitrogen you described is not an ion because of the correct number of electrons, and is a standard isotope of nitrogen due to the number of neutrons. I'm not sure what you mean by draw, so I'll explain 2 methods; how to draw a Bohr model and how to draw a Lewis Dot model.

Bohr model: Draw a small circle in the center. In that circle, write "P: 7" and "N: 7". Then, draw a larger circle around it. Place two dots on that circle, representing electrons. Then, draw another circle around that. Put 5 dots on here, for a total of 7 electrons.

Lewis Dot model: This is an easy draw that is used for drawing bonds. Write a N for nitrogen. Then, place 2 dots above the N, 2 to the right of the N, 2 below the N, and 1 to the left. The dots are valence electrons.
