Hey, i've been in dance for a while, and im starting a new school. They don't focus on many sports because its a magnet school. :/ anyways, cheer is one of the possibilities, I've been captain of dance outside of school. I've been known to have good abilities related to hip hop, ballet jazz, etc.

And i've been to cheer camp once, which I think is closely related to dance and quite easy for me to achieve.

I'm soo close to completing a forward split. Which splits is easier for you, and can anyone give me tips, ideas, etc. to know the splits?

  1. well i can do the splits because i take karate classes, you just need to stretch all of your muscles everyday and you will closer and closer to making it.

  2. it takes time. constantly do some stretches. I've been doing a little bit of karate, but mostly high kicks. After awhile I realized I can perfectly do the splits!

  3. well lots of stretching is obvious,

pushing your self and holding them

really long help. an exercise i like to

do that hurts alot, but i see a difference

is, find a chair and sit on the floor in

front of it, facing it, place your front leg

on the very edge of the seat and keep

your back leg on the floor, and push until

you feel a stretch, make sure not to push

yourself too far, until your body is ready,

maybe start by holding it for like 15 seconds,

rest then hold it for20, then 30, slowly but

gradually get bigger, but make sure your

    resting.

  4. I am only allowing you to do cheer if you promise to keep dancing, whether it's at school, outside school, or all alone in your room!! :)

My best split is my left because, well, i don't know exactly. guess i was born with abnormal flexibility (my back it really gumby too). My advise for you is wall splits, for one, just like when you're watching tv or reading a book to just stay in the wall split till your shows over or you finish a chapter or two. And if it's not hurting push your legs down farther. And second before you go to bed sit in each split for at least a minute, even more if you'd like.

Good Luck with cheer!! (and dance!!) :):):):)

  5. Splits take a lot of time! Stretching everyday and doing your splits for a few minutes will help.  Do any stretching that you have learned in the past even if you think it does no help...trust me it does!  It also depends on if you are a lefty or a righty.  If you are a lefty the left splits are going to be esier and if you are a righty the right ones are easier.  I am a righty so my right splits are better.

  6. stretching helps

  7. I find both the forwards splits easier for me.

but after i pulled a muscle. (ouch)

    were my gluteus is.

im having great difficulty going into them again.

so im starting to stretch for my box splits. (centre splits

    1.  Make sure you are completely warmed up. you should be slightly sweating.

the reason we warm up is so the circulation starts flowing through our body. people who warm up before the splits, or overall stretching tend to be able to do the splits faster.

    2. Find suitable stretches. if you want the to get the right splits down you need to try and also get the left splits down.

otherwise you'll have uneven high kicks etc. etc.

here are some good stretches that helped me : )

    1.  sit down legs infront of you try and reach for your toes completely and try and get your head close to your knees.

    2. sit in a four shape. with the right leg tucked near ur groin. reach out for your left leg try and get your head as close to your knees as possible. repeat with other leg.

there are plenty more stretches that u can google.

splits take a while to master.

as long as your stretch as much as you can

and you stretch the right muscles for the splits you will be sitting in them in no time.

    happy stretching

  8. many people are lucky enough to be born with the natural flexibility to do the splits. others, like you and me, will have to work at it. start out by trying to go as far as you can, stopping right before it hurts. do that once or twice a day every day and you'll gradually become more and more flexible that way. p.s. everybody has different opinions on which way you should do the splits but i personally think the forward split would be easier
