Because of my past experiences I am terrified of deep waters. Family members have throwed me to the pool but that didn't work.

What can I do to start loosing my fear?

  1. take swimming lessons

  2. I would just take swim lessons. I'm 13 and i just learned how to swim. you can take lessons at any age. I used to be scared to go in the 6 foot pool and the other day my friend pushed me in and i was fine. You just have to be confident. Good luck

  3. Do the doggy paddle. And go in shallow water. And first fell comfurtble. it will help you. Go to 3 feet. It depends on how tall are you. For Exaple: If you are 5 feet go in 4 or 3 feet.

  4. start swimming in swallow waters then gradually go deeper and deeper.

  5. i am scared of water, only because i cant swim. start to swim at like 4 or 5 feet at a swimming pool, (have an instructor). then when you pass it then go to 6. go slowly. and you should learn. i dont know how to swim and i am scared to go to a pool becuase a tall girl in middle school not knowing how to swim look stupid.

  6. I am sorry for your bad experiences and I know this is very difficult to overcome.  First, stay in the shallow end!  :)  Second, Balance is of utmost impotance.  Begin by standing and submerging by bending your knees until your shoulders are under water.  Extend the arms making yourself into a "T".  Tilt your head back (keeping your arms and shoulders under) and lift up from the belly to float.  For a front float, head down and chin tucked is the key.  You head is like a steering wheel on a car and crucial to balance.  If your head goes up, the legs naturally drop trying to make your body vertical.  To counter this the head needs to be down and balance you to float.  I know the natural reaction is to lift your head for air but this is the surest way to go vertical and drown.  if you can float in shallow ater, the same rules apply in deep.  Depth has nothing to do with your ability to swim or float.  Learn to kick streamline.  Arms extended over the head and hands together.  Head down, chin tucked.  If you stay horizontal then you are balanced.  The rest will come from that.  Look me up for more steps if you want and good luck to you!

  7. Lol i'm 18 and cant swim. Take some swimming lessons

  8. learning to swim is a two-pronged challenge. First you must become comfortable in the water and second you must learn the technique and the skill that is swimming. This is the same at any age, child or adult. Most learn to swim schools will have adult learn to swim, often 1 on 1, so ask your nearest centre.

Throwing someone into the pool is probably the worst possible way of teaching them to swim, and the best possible way of developing an inbuilt fear of the water. I'm a swimming teacher myself and as you do lessons with a teacher who takes it really slowly and focuses on getting you comfortable in the water BEFORE expecting you to learn strokes, you'll begin to enjoy it!

    All the best!
