Hi there,

I'm pretty new to the gardening world, but I have a rather long back garden, about 14x40ft. But the grass has become almost non exsistant as I had a dog. But not only that its extemely uneven between pot holes and tufts of grass.

It was a lovely lush garden once upon a time.

I no longer have my dog and decided to make my garden a haven again, but that impossible with the uneven land I have ot there now.

So can anyone tell me what I can do to level my garden again?

What tools do I need? Should I kill off the grass I hae left and start fresh??

Please I've no clue so any help would be good.

Thank you.

  1. cut the high grass to the level of the low grass so when it grows,it grows together and lives happy ever after.....

  2. I would start fresh. Kill the old grass, til the soil, pull out all the dead old grass and roots and other debris. Then you can either do this yourself or hire someone but have fill dirt brought in and spread and leveled. Seed or sod. For the garden do the same thing, clean it out rocks, weeds and roots. I would take the top about 1 shovel lengths of the soil out and fill it with garden soil.
