How do I lighten my hair at home?

My natural hair color is medium brown, and the top half of my hair is highlighted blonde. I'm wondering if there's any way to lighten my whole head to a pretty blonde color at home. I saw L'oreal Dream Blonde at the store but I don't know if its for natural blondes or if I can even use it seeing as how I have highlights. I've used boxed hair dye before tons of times, but only to change between shades of brown. Whats the best way to lighten all my hair to blonde?

dont do it at home, get it done by a professional... doing it at home almost NEVER works out!

box color is so bad for your hair.

If the box just lightens your hair, why don't you double-dye it? That might work too. If you want to lighten it naturally, you can try soaking your hair is lemon juice, then sitting in the sun for an hour. Or you can try "Sun In" which you can buy from wal-mart for under $10.

From what I hear from my mom ( a million-time hair dyer, ) Garnier works well (whatever that is) and also Excellence in that pink/coral box works.

use SUN IN it works,

go buy a bottle at CVS or wherever

and read the directions on the back.
