How do I locate sponsors for a small town local sports team?

You ask and ask and ask...and you ask nicely, and you take a kid or two with you, and let THEM explain to the company rep why they need funding...

Also, contact a local newspaper reporter and have them do a story about starting up the team, needing funding, etc.

It will take persistence, charm, GOOD MANNERS and PATIENCE!  Don't give up, and be politely insistent.  If they tell you they cannot afford a big donation, or even no donation, know the cost of the items you need in advance, and perhaps you can get sponsors to fund a certain thing, like the shirt-printing for the uniforms, the bats, the balls, etc. if they have limited funds...or figure up how much total you need, divide it by the number of players, and sell "stock" in the team, asking people to sponsor a certain number of players...

Don't forget to offer to emblazon the name of the sponsor on the jerseys--like 'Bob's Auto Parts" or whatever!
