  1. Honestly I have heard so many complaints about Vista that I don't think I would put it on any computer that I owned. I think that they were in such a rush to put out a new OS that protected the company from being pirated that they didn't care how well it did or didn't work. It seems that Win XP works so much better that many of us out here are sticking with that rather than upgrade to Vista and I heard of some people that bought new computers with Vista already installed have actually changed it to use the more stable XP  which might be a good idea for you to do? I have window XP pro and love it! :o)

  2. TrueCrypt - Free Open-Source Disk Encryption Software , download from here>http://www.truecrypt.org/downloads.php , there is a  paid software name Folder-Lock download it from here > www.download.com/Folder-Lock/3000-2092_4... , i suggest you to use TrueCrypt its free clean and works great and many great option i use it myself

  3. Off the top of my head I cannot think how to lock it with a password.  but if you are looking for more security and to keep people out of it.  you can use the security tab under folder properties.  however this will only work if everyone had a unique user account on the system.

Find the folder you want to secure.  right click on it go to properties, then click the security tab.  there will be two windows on that tab.  you will see some groups listed.  administrators, system and your user name.  you can remove any group on there but DO NOT remove your user name.  Then click apply.  this will keep other users from accessing that folder.  it will stop administrators as well but only for a short time.
