I need to install an LCD monitor at work but there is concern that the graveyard employees will bring portable devices to watch movies. How can I secure the extra ports and also prevent the vga cable from being disconnected. Some one suggested using a hot glue gun to glue them shut. would this work?

  1. usally in the setup you can turn off the other device and set a pasword to enter

  2. Well, "hot glue gunning" the monitor is an unwise idea for a few reasons:

    1. Your warrenty will be terminated instantly.

    2. It may mess up the rest of the device

    3. If you need them for future use, it will cost you a lot to get them cleaned.

It would work, but I wouldn't recommend it highly. I recommend getting a rear input LCD model television (whereas the A/V hookups are at the REAR of the set and not on the sides or on the front. Typically you can either get these special order (if price really isn't a factor, though it will only cost about 50 more dollars then it would if they were on the front/sides) or you can get them prebought as such, at a retail store such as Wal-Mart, BestBuy or radioshack. Other then that, I simply recommend boarding the tv, or building a cabinet around it as so nobody can access the tv or configure it/tamper it in any way except with a remote which I assume you will be holding. This way you can still keep your warrenty in case something goes wrong, and the tv can be used for more potential. As for portable devices, most portable DVD players these days typically have built in LCD screens in them (except for the older standard models), so employees probably wouldn't plug in the DVD outputs into the inputs of the monitor. Another sensible solution is to get a webcam in order to watch the TV and see if employees tamper with it, that way you can review the tape footage and see which employees tampered with the monitor.
