Question:

How do I lock the exposure on my Nikon D100???

I have not mastered this yest and not sure what I'm doing wrong - I came across these informational vidoes by Candice Stringham - specifically "Picture Perfect - Metering and I haven't been able to master this that she demonstrates on the video because my exposure isn't locking - can someone explain to me how to make ot lock? Help is MUCH appreciated! here's the link to the video:

  1. The BEST way to lock exposure is to turn your D100 dial to "M" for manual exposure.  That way the camera will only expose at the settings you provide.

    Otherwise in the A, S, and P modes, you can push the AE-L button and hold it to lock the exposure.  Go midway down the page and see where it is and what it does.

    That will allow you to lock exposure, even if you move the camera around.


  2. Look for a button labeled "AE-L." By pressing this, you can enable exposure lock. The button might say "AE-L / AF-L."

    An alternative that you might find easier would be to simply turn to the A function button on your camera. The A stands for "aperture priority" and there you can use the main k**b to select the aperture you want.
