Training with American Eagle to be type rated in the ERJ 145. This is my first part 121 gig and excited to finally start burning kerosene! Been conducting training in a full motion level D simulator and will be type rated for SIC privelages only. Curious to how I can log this time. I imagine I can log it as simulator time and dual recieved, but can I also log it as multi engine and turbine time and add it to my total time since it is in a full motion level d sim with an instrcutor? Just anxious to log some jet time! Thank you!

  1. Congrats. Did that back in 1994 at American Eagle though I only wish it was in a 145. The Jetstream wasn't all that fun. Well maybe a little, kind of a handfull (no autopilot). All in all the AA training center was 8 weeks I will never forget. Alot of class act people there. My time in the B707 (interview) and J32 (training) Saab 340 sim's I was told just to log total time and sim time. Looking back at my logs I didn't log ME,CC,Instr,SIC,turbine or anything. Just TT and Simulator. If that was wrong it didn't really matter at that point, I was about to get all the prime time I wanted!

Good luck. I hope you get a decent base. Listen to the capitain upgrades training with you they have all the in's and out's of the ways of the company.  Cant have too many friends in crew scheduling. Go over and meet some of them. It worked for me!

  2. Log the flight time, instrument reference time, the landings, the approaches, the multiengine time, the turbine time, and the device number.  Have the instructor endorse.

  3. Give a call to your nearest training center.. CAE Simuflite is a good bet, and should have good programs for type ratings.
