  1. Looking up the address really depends on the operating system that you use.  For MS Windows (at least the versions since Windows 2000), use the "ipconfig" command at a MS DOS prompt to get the info.  For a UNIX based system, the command is "ifconfig" from a shell prompt.

As for what to do with them, most people don't need to interact directly with it for desktop systems.  The exception would be if the desktop is functioning in a server role (i.e. web server, file server, etc...).

  2. If you mean how do you look up other people's IP's  and try to trace them it's illegal and you will get in trouble for it.

  3. go to start up > run > type CMD then type IPCONFIG

  4. The vast majority of private internet customer's have dynamically assigned IP addresses, and normally only business customers will have static IP address.

What you do with the IP address really depends on what you are wanting to do, doesn't it?

  5. well, you can find your ip address at alot of websites, just google my ip address and it should show you what sites tell you your ip address

  6. just go to

    myipaddress.com

The website gives it to you.
