  1. Same as any other time of year.  You have to burn more calories than you digest.  My recommendation for you is when it's time to break fast, drink one entire glass of water before eating food.  That will give you the feeling of being full so you will not over eat.  Also, plan and prepare your meals ahead of time, no prepared foods from restaurants.  Have a fresh garden salad with your meal every time, maybe even eat the salad before the main meal (you might get full on the salad and water and not eat the main meal).  Avoid (or at least limit) things like bread, rice, and fried foods.  If you 'need' bread, have wheat bread; if you 'need' rice have brown rice.  You can make vegetable stews or even grilled vegetables.  If you are going to eat meat, make it a very lean cut and try to stick to white meat- if you're having chicken, try to limit yourself to eating the breast meat, avoid the legs, wings, etc.. as it is more fatty.  Do not eat and then just sit around or sleep; try to get some exercise after you eat- nothing too strenuous over bearing so you won't feel sick but taking a nice walk after breaking fast is good, if you can handle jogging that would be better.

I know during Ramadan many people make sweets and pastries, you should avoid those completely or as much as possible.  The MidEast and Pakistani desserts are really unhealthy and full of fat- the bad fat.

It is very important to keep hydrated during Ramadan too.  The best thing is to drink plenty of water during the eating hours.  Avoid other drinks like soda, powdered drink mixes and sugary juices.  Water is by far the best thing to keep hydrated.  Even gatorade is not that good at it, even though it is marketed that way.

It is important to understand that the purpose of Ramadan is not to lose weight though.  If that is the only reason why you do it then it's almost as if you are not fasting at all.

  2. For me, I dropped a bunch of weight by eating raw carrots and or raw celery about a half hour before dinner.  For me, I ate enough that made a major dent on my hunger yet left room for a "regular meal".  Two months later, down 35 pounds.  I was shocked.

I prefer productive work rather than formal exercise.  Volunteering in the neighborhood can be more rewarding than 'sweating to the oldies' on a cardio pad.  Just finding ways to being more 'active' not only helps the body, but the mind, too.

Consult your medical reference person before making any major changes.

  3. ull already lose weight from fasting anyway

dont exercise ull probably get dehydrated

its summer too so its gonna be hot

    dont exercise

and i hope this isnt the only reason u fast!!

  4. eh?  I don't understand the question - when you are partaking in Ramadam you are fasting during the day so you should lose weight anyway - I probably wouldn't reccomend excersize you will probably collapse

  5. Sister, When you are fasting, what matters most is your intention. You fast in order to earn rewards from Allah, to repent, to feel the pain of poor, needy who sometimes do not eat for days, you fast in order to know how blessed we are with the food of Allah.

We shall fast for the sake of earning sawab, if we keep these intentions in mind that " oh good, its ramadan we will maintain the figure too, will loose weight etc" this will dwell your intentions of fasting and chances of you loosing the real rewards..

hope you got my point :)~!

  6. The prophet broke his fast with a hand full of almonds. Water later of course. I think if you do that alone you will lose weight.  No cardio. Walking will do.
