  1. Kind of a vague question...

    Most hospitals and doctors offices will let you set up a monthly payment plan, so it's not so daunting. Otherwise you could let it go to collections and settle for a lower amount... but then you run the risk of ruining your credit.


  2. Call the billing office, and ask them to reprice it to cash.

  3. Call the medical facility's billing office and ask for a negotiated settlement upon receipt of a lump-sum payment (to be considered as payment in full for the bill). For example, offer to pay 30% of the bill and pay the rest in full in return for a discount.

    If you can't afford the above option, ask for a low monthly payment plan and make sure to send payment in on time to avoid going to collections. Also, you can ask if they offer financial assistance for people with considerable medical bills and little-to-no insurance coverage.
