Question:

How do I make a Crispy Chicken Sushi Roll?

I had it yesterday at a Sushi place in Brisbane city.

The sushi roll was amazing! The chicken in the center had some sort of crispy skin around it. Then it had avacado too.

I'd really love to know how to make this at home, but I cannot find it anywhere online!

    What you described really is just chicken and avocado rolled in rice, not exactly sushi - but I'm sure it tasted great.  It sounds like a local thing, maybe a recipe particular to that place.

    If you need to do this, you probably need to fry the chicken, cut it into smaller pieces or strips, roll it with some avocados in some sushi rice and wrap the whole thing in nori.

    I would look into getting a sushi rolling kit...not expensive at all.  Also make sure to cook your sushi rice correctly.  It needs to be vinegared before you serve it.


  2. It's possible the crispy skin you mentioned was tempura batter. I have never personally tried chicken- I usually do shrimp which is delicious, but I imagine chicken would work.

    Tempura batter can be found at most grocery stores. Find a box and check the indications.

    The batter is very simple to make. If you decide to do it, just make sure you control the heat and spatter when you're frying- follow the directions carefully as the oil can catch fire.
