How do I make a Hollow Hide-a-Book? A.K.A. Book Safe?

OK, I have a dremel tool and I had a Hard Cover Book and I tried to make a hide a book, book safe, and just to say it didn't work...

I tried multiple methods...

1. I tried to cut with an exacto knife but it didn't seem to work...

2. I tried a dremel tool Cutting Blade and it almost started the thing on fire.

I tried to do it with the pages 'normal' and I tried to use white glue on the external edges of the pages to hold them in place.

It just didn't work...

I have only seen a Hide-A-Book once in hand and other then the glue used to adhere the felt to the cavity, I didn't see a method of external support so I can't figure out how to cut a cavity in a hard cover book!!!

Can you PLEASE give me some advice on cutting out a cavity in a Hard Cover Book????

  1. take a knife trace out what u want to hide in the book and keep cutting that pattern out, the knife will only go through 20-50 pages at on cut

for  hollowing out the whole book cut it so there is about an inch on paper on all sides of the cavity- u can get closer near the spine of the book

  2. i bought one in a security shop for about twenty bucks it seems like that might be the best way to go

  3. Here's a link to instructions/pictures on how to do it- http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Hollow-Boo...

  4. I remember making one when I was a kid.  I just used a razor blade and cut parallel to the edges about 1.5 inches in.

You can only cut a few pages at a time, so it'll take some patience.

    What cha gonna hide?
