  1. Use the Elliptical Marquee tool to make the selection.

    Then choose Select>Inverse.

    Then hit Delete.

At least, that how to do it in Photoshop.  If you're using any other software ... no idea!

  2. right click on the image or click and options should instantly pop up that allow you to crop.

  3. Go to - http://www.splashup.com/ and jump right in to start your free editing session, no registration or fees required.

Click on File, Open Image. Click on the Marquee tool at top left of the Tools window, click the Circular option box, click and drag the circle over the area you want to crop. Click on Edit, Copy.

Go back to File and select New Image, then Edit, Paste the copied selection into the new image. Go to File, Save Image to save it to your computer and you'll now have a circular cropped image on a white background.

  4. "The basic way is to create a circular selection, invert the selection, and erase or delete what is not in the circle. You will need to save the result in a format that supports transparent colors, such as PNG or GIF, otherwise you will still have a rectangle with blank corners."
