Question:

How do I make a dentist appointment?

I know this might sound like a silly question but I am young and have never done this before on my own. I have dental insurance through my work and I need to go real soon b/c I have developed a cavity. Seeing as how I have not been in a long time I really need a cleaning too. Would it be better to schedule these things together or at seperate appointments? Also what do I say when I call?

  1. Just call and say that you're interested in your bi-annual teeth cleaning and that you also may need to have a cavity filled. Give them your availability and ask if both procedures can take place together. The dentist is there to provide a service (and be reimbursed)-- he or she is the BEST person to ask if you have any questions (or the receptionist's desk). No worries! :D

  2. I would just call to schedule a cleaning.  Just let them know you think you have a cavity (or that you definitely do if you know for sure).  For your first appointment, I would arrive at least 5 minutes early so you can fill out the paperwork and so they can take care of the dental insurance.

  3. well, you'll end up scheduling separate appointments. just call a nearby dental place, and they will tell you the available times. it's simple, actually. your first appointment there, they won't do much. they might do a cleaning, but they will mostly do Xrays, and the dentist will be able to identify your problem ( even though you could already know what the problem is ) Then you make another appointment and THEN they actually start doing stuff to your teeth.
