How do I make a hoodie liner?

I'm currently in a project of customizing an already made hoodie that I have. I want to take the inside of the hood and make it a different material, for instance, I want a fully black hoodie to have a hood that has stars on the inside of the hood, made from store-bought material.

Are there any tricks to this?

Do I have to cut the hoodie apart and then sew it back together for this to happen?

No, just sew the lining into it.
