  1. It be much easier to buy one at a local sporting goods store or go online to theses outdoor sporting stores they will have everything you need and they have great customer service, i've purchased items from both of them

    Bassproshops.com

    Cabelas.com

  2. Whoever chimed in saying you could make one is right, you can build your own boat too.

I wont assume that you are mechanically inclined and your time may be worth more than four hours of labor putting a box together knowing when you can buy one already built.

www.cabelas.com would be where I would send you, great customer service and its a huge retailer of outdoor goods.

I've seen guys make live wells from 5-gallon buckets and a battery-powered fish tank pump. You wanna be careful, that tank will become heavy when full of water so double-check your boats weight recommendations and make sure you aren't exceeding the limitations of your boat.

Make sure you find one with a good lid, my buddy had a cheap one without a water tight lid and its spilled out more water when under-way..it was a hassle. You can look up live-bait tanks too, they might cost a little less.

  3. web is correct ot you can vonver a cool box with a pump and bubbler  they have them on sale in wallyworld for about 30 dollors.  You can get a actual live well for not much more.

  4. yes they make a portable livewell hooks to the battery

  5. I bought a really cool one for my boat several years ago. I didn't have much inboard room being a smaller boat, so I found a soft sided one with a rigid frame that mounted over the stern of the boat. It had a small air/water pump in it that picked up water from behind the boat, and an over flow that let the water flow back down a hose behind the boat as well. I found it thru either the bass pro shop or cabella's.

  6. All you really need is a big water tight compartment or bin, and an aerator.  You can even use an old bilge pump, just to circulate water in the well.  You'll have to hook this up to the battery, but thats about it.

  7. It's easier to buy one. They don't cost very much ($80-120) unless you buy a deluxe one with a padded bench seat and a bunch of other frills.

  8. You can manufacture a livewell using CDX plywood and glass ... just shape the box to your specs with the CDX (put in bevelled wooden inserts in the corners to round the edges) and then glass the box in with cloth.   Cut your plumbing and wiring holes ... then spray paint (I used Interlux Brightside polyurethane ... cheap but effective).   Attach the box to thru hull fittings for pick up and drain and then wire your aerator and pump.   This worked for me and took me 4 hours to build, but I was not overly concerned with fit and finish.

  9. check Boaters world or West marine online or the local store.
