  1. well probably drop the nanny and learn to raise your child instead of having someone else do it for you. that way the nanny can live on her own and be comfortable in her own surroundings.

  2. Welcome her, show her the house, and the let her settle in her own space on her own. Tell her you'll go over everything with her later on, or in the morning, let her settle, and make sure she feels like she still has privacy.

  3. Some people are rude!! I'm about to become a live-in nanny next month and what would help me most is like the other person said which is getting adjusted to the new environment.

What would also help though is guidance. Tell her all about the family and make sure she understands your parenting philosophy. She will probably want to do things the way you do so help her learn about you guys as parents. Do you do time out, grounding, etc.

Also, help her bond with the children by telling her what stories, games, and other activities they really like. Also, set the rules out fromt he beginning such as time off, visitors, computer usage, whatever it may be that way there are no questions later on.

Oh and give her a list of names and numbers she might need at some point. That way she is very comfortable when you leave.

Of course a tour of the house is important. Even showing her where things like flashlights, toilet paper, phone books, if she'll be doing any cooking even snacks show her around the kitchen. She'll need to know where plates are, where pans are, sugar, flour, things like that.

Just give her a very thorough orientation and welcome her to the family!
