  1. The imperative tense expresses a command.

    Example:  Do your homework.  Feed the cat.  Clean your room.

    For your sentence, try, "Try and stop him."

  2. An imperative is a command. So, in that example it would be "You/He/She can't stop him now"

  3. adding a period

  4. Just do it.

    Stop him not now.

    Let him go.

    Leave him to himself.

  5. make it a command to a "you," without using a subject.

    e.g. "stop throwing cats at my son before I call the cops"

  6. As you probably know, the imperative is used to give a command, such as "Learn the imperative form!" or "Let nothing stop him now," give a warning, advice and so on.

    Check out the link I've provided.  ( Note that the pervious sentence is in the imperative. :)

  7. See if he can be stopped!

    Can't you stop him!

    Just stop him.

    Will nothing stop him?

    the imperative mood is often formulated indirectly, as questions or assertions:

          * I beg you to stop him.

    The imperative mood's appropriateness depends on several factors For example, the speaker may have the simple intention to offer something, to wish or permit something, or just to apologize, and not to manipulate his conversational partner. In these cases, no restriction will be placed on the use of imperative:

        * Come to the party tomorrow!

        * Just smoke if you want.

        * Have a nice trip!

        * Excuse me!

    Prohibitive mood is the negative imperative mood. The two moods are often different in word order or in morphology.

    In English, the imperative mood uses the same word order as the indicative mood, while the prohibitive mood uses a different word order if you is added.

       Indicative        Imperative / Prohibitive

                                          ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚ˆÂ’you           +you

    Affirmative  you go. Go!           You go!

    Negative    You do not go.       Do not go! -

      You don't go.    don't go!       Don't you go!
