  1. In the state that I live some trailers don't require any plates. Here it is based on empty trailer weight. If the weight of the trailer without the load (empty) is under 750 lbs. no license is required. If you do need to license it will require a title. If homemade then you need to apply for a title in which here requires a Serial/Vin Number that you will have to make up and also stamp into the frame for verification as needed later. Lights are a basic requirement and sometimes brakes (depending on total weight etc.) Usually you can go on-line and see the requirements for trailer licensing. Most can be found by using the state name.gov (ie:www.michigan.gov) and then searching for Dept. of Motor Vehicles etc. Also calling your local boat shop can give you some very valuable info. Most states are happy to take your money and so they are helpful in getting you the needed information. Good Luck and HAPPY BOATING!

  2. Hi

I also live in Michigan , and have single axle trailer. I also use to design camping trailers. I have never had any proplem getting my trailer licenced. I did have to have the trailer weighed and take a weight slip to the license branch. If your worried about the capicity of the trailer, as long as you do not exceed the wt rating on your  tires you should be fine.

  3. you most likely have to get a title, register it and get a license on it.

  4. I live in Wisconsin and this is how it goes here

~title and register it-this gets you plates

~if you do not have title, file for lost one

~if it is not legal=you need to have lights and blinkers, buy a kit for light assembly and attach
