  1. use cardboard for the exterior size then use the crushed coffee cups as kevin said then use cardboard for the interior wrapped in foil

  2. Use styrofoam. Make sure that the layer joints are not close to each other. Use a packaging tape to seal the edges. A small air gap between the layers would also help since air is a very good insulator, IF it is not able to move easily, if at all. As for air, point to remember, Arctic animals use hollow air filled hairs, such as the Polar Bear, to stay warm.

  3. The coffee shop is really a handicap. I was going to said that for the most insulated box, use a vacuum chamber-- that would block out all temperatures changes, but that isn't very common to find around- let alone in a coffee shop. How large does the inner volume have to be? Maybe you could use one of those thermos-dispensers that they hold the coffee in? http://www.coffee-express.com/images/air...

That would probably be a bit expensive. The only other thing that I can think of off the top of my head is crushed up insulating coffee cups. It's not that creative, but it would work. Do coffee shops have foil? I would then wrap the crushed cups in a few layers of foil to reflect off heat. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck on the project!
