My 6 year old is having circus day at school and the teacher sent home an assignment sheet saying that he had picked "tightrope walker" as the person he wanted to be. So he has to bring in the appropriate props and costume and pretend to be tightrope walking. Obviously he won't be on a real tightrope but.....Any ideas at all!? I'm stumped!!

  1. How about an ordinary rope (or ribbon) that he can lay out along the floor and walk along?

Also you could make him a balance pole - a garden cane with a "weight" on each end (make sure it covers the point of the cane so he can't put someone's eye out :) )

I think he could wear anything as his costume - something bright and cheerful would be best.

  2. Maybe get a rope and lay it down on the floor in a straight line. Then have your child walk along the rope with a pole or his arms out.

  3. Lay a rope down and have him carry a long pole for balance...or an umbrella.

  4. easy...a peice of rope. Leggings and a leotard as the outfit. Then tell him to pick something easier next time lol

  5. You could try getting a wide piece of ribbon for him to walk on.  Since it would be flatter than a rope it would be more comfortable to walk on.

  6. Make a balance beam out of a two by four or you could use a small ladder and lay it flat and have her balance walking on the rungs.  Thats how my cousins and I played circus.
