We've gathered the wind fallen apples from our trees and ended up with roughly three bushels. How do we make alcohol from them?

  1. You've got your work cut out for you.  Extract the juice as the first step to make apple jack.  You'll need to introduce yeast of the proper type so that alcohol rather than vinegar is produced.  There will be a web site (use one for wine making) that will give you further instructions.

  2. working on it myself

    what you need:

apple juice, or apples to juice (then juice them)

yeast (ec-1118 is popular for apple wine/cider)

fermenting container (something airtight that you can attach an airlock to)

an airlock (to let air out, but not back in)

a 2nd container to move  your batch to

    bottles to fill.

personally i am going cheap for my 1st attempt, got the yeast for $1 locally, some aquarium hose, and going to try fermenting in the apple juice containers i bought the juice in... if it works, i might splurge on the more professional stuff, even making my own airlock:

there are TONS of websites devoted to it, searching for "homemade cider, hard cider, etc.
