How do I make mirmaid fins?

Question

I have a REALLY strong dream of becoming a photographer. This summer, I was planning on doing a mirmaid photoshoot. I need to either buy, or make mirmaid fins (that I can swim in) for this summer, either june, july, or august. Does anyone have an idea where to get them, or how to make them? They don't have to look REALLY realistic, but preaty good. Remember, they need to be waterproof, to swim in.

search an internet shop for quirky sales. an unfinished/finished mermaid fin project is bound to come up.

you can make them out of cloth, like the old little mermaid costumes... it will look really cool because it'll be all flowy in the water! good luck, sounds like fun

take two pieces ofcard board in the style of mermaid fins and glue them together. then, laminate them. simple as that.

1)  i have seen patterns for making these for Halloween costumes, but they would not do well for actually swimming in.

2) you might get 1 of those patterns and then play with it, to make fins that would work.

3) lycra fabric might work, and it is frequently shiny.

4)  what about getting regular swim fins and either painting them, or gluing lycra fabric on.

and making tights out of lycra fabric.

you could see how that worked, and evolve the pattern

to get the look right.

I saw a website once for a company that makes them. Do a websearch. Or you could make your own using a lot of talent, plaster moulds, and silicon rubber.
