I have a DMR-ES10 Panasonic DVD Recorder. I have scheduled it once a day to film for 8 hours( the dvd's max). Is it possible to set the recorder to automatically record over my last recording? I use dvd-rws and want to make my dvd recorder auto tape, auto delete and auto record again.

  1. Well I don't know about all of it actomatically. But I can tell you how to do it manuely. You can record it for 8  hours, watch it. Then pop it into a computer that has a DVD-burner, then erase everything since it is a DVD-RW. Then you can put it inot your DVD Recorder and record again. If you have Windows XP you should have the option at the top left when you explore the DVD, to remove everything on the disk. Or if you have  Nero, you can also do it that way too.

  2. Set to automatically Record the 8 hours

    Watch the 8 hours

Erase the disc using the erase command

Set to automatically Record the 8 hours (unless you can set a daily recording for this which does not get deleted in the above process.

Erasing is not automatic and i have not seen a machine that does that with DVD.  DVRs with their hard drives are another matter.  Programs erase automatically on a DVR if the drive is full and you did not tell it to SAVE the program until MANUALLY ERASED.
