  1. if youre talking about the background of your computer you just set the postioning so it's not on tile.

if you mean on a webpage you would have to make sure the picture was large enough to cover then entire screen.

  2. when you are selecting the picture style of the background in properties, you should see selections seeing tiled or centered. select centered and make the size of the background picture your screen size.

  3. You can either use the backgrounds created by Yahoo, which you can't adjust in any way (but they fill the entire screen) OR you can create a custom theme. If you want to use the pre-made background, click on the "My Page" link next to your "Home" link. Then, at the top under that line of links is the word "Theme: [name of whatever theme you currently have]." Click the "Change Theme" link that's directly under those words. Select one and click the "Apply Theme" button. If you want to customize your theme, see below:

If you HAVE WORKED with the custom theme window before:

Click the "Edit Custom Theme" link toward the top left of your "My Page."

If you want an image to fill the entire 360 space, it should be at least 1064 pixels wide (or more) by 2100-2200 pixels (or more) in height. It will be impossible to create a background that fits every screen resolution in this way, so just aim for filling your screen.

Upload the image as a single background image and choose to tile it. You'll have to play around with it a bit to get it right (lower resolution, cropping, and other size adjustments get it under 360 specifications) by using a photo editor like Microsoft Paint, which is on most Windows computers in the Accessories section. I personally have an old version of Adobe Photoshop that I use. Typically it's the height dimension that needs increasing and the decreasing of quality upon saving the image as a JPEG. Also, you will have breaks depending on the length of your blog area, but at least you can get your top page to have no breaks.

OR you can get really fancy. Instead of uploading a single image tiled, you can upload an image for the top and one for the bottom. If the images have the same color background and you make the page background that color, then it will look seamless. ;-)

Here is a directory of wallpaper/background sites: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2006/12/... . You can also search for images via keyword searches on Google at http://images.google.com . Right-click on the image and choose "Save Image As" or something similar to save an image to your hard drive.

REMEMBER: Your background picture must be JPEG formatted (.jpg, .jpeg, or .jpe as the extension) and under 250KB in file size. If you go big (at least 1000+ pixels on each dimension), look for a high-quality image. It's best to start clear and work your way down.

TIP: If you are browsing public 360 pages and you see a theme that you like, click on "Make This Theme Mine" link to overwrite your theme with that one (located just above the counter on the Top Page - left side). This excludes pictures the person may have uploaded (i.e. images in the background).

    Good Luck! Enjoy!
