Hi. So I have a 5.1 Dolby Surround system with a Wii hooked up by component cables, a PS3 hooked up by HDMI, an Xbox 360 hooked up by component cables, and a cable box hooked up by HDMI, all attached to the receiver. Now when I put in a PS2 game into my PS3 that supports Pro Logic II (such as Metal Gear Solid 3) I see that the receiver automatically switches into Pro Logic II and shows me that its also getting signal for all the surround channels. Now when i play a game on the Wii or the 360, i have to manually tell the receiver to go into a Pro Logic II mode with my remote (movie, music or game, under the surround decode section) and i only see the receiver getting signal for the left and right channels. Am I doing something wrong? Is it the HDMI that makes it able to work? i know the Wii is known to support Pro Logic II but what makes it supporting it if I can supposedly make any component Pro Logic II with the remote? What should I do to get the most out of Pro Logic II?

  1. Alot of times you have to go into the setup menu for any type of device and go to the audio options. There you will have to tell the device to output the sound thru Dolby Digital. If any of your devices are not set to this, you haven't been getting a true Dolby Digital Sound.
