Hi I don't know much on fixing computer.. just play games =]. The problem is I'm downloading this game called Counter-Strike which some of you might of heard of and when I downloaded it on my cousin's computer it went around 2xx/KB/s now when I'm trying to download it on mine, it goes to 8x/KB/s.. my computers like 4-6 years old maybe? And 15/27.9 space used. I don't know what this is but it most likely show the speed of computer... Intel Pentium III processor, 1.01GHz, 256 MB of RAM. Is there a way to boost it up a little? I did the stuff that made my computer's performance better ccleaner which helped except the Download speed. I'm like 1/2 month away from being 18 to get a job to buy stuff for this computer but for now is there a way to boost it up? By the way my cousin's computer is a little younger than mine.. but like 5xx RAM and like 2ghz? or 1.x1? forgot..

It's still pretty quick for other stuff but just games at the moment..

  1. your computer should be able to run it okay.

By the sounds of it you just need a good cleaning.

That'll help you out, and clean your computer.

  2. Downloads don't have to do with computer speed. They have to do with internet connection speed. The faster your internet connection the faster the download.

  3. The only way to speed up your download speed is to get a faster internet connection.

If you have a home network setup then it could be the someone else is downloading also. Try to limit the number of other downloads you have going on.

  4. This is probably kinda slow for games cause of the low specs, even a top of the line pc from 4-6 years ago is extremely outdated. As far as the download speed, that will mainly be caused by your internet connection speed. The only thing you can do about this is to get DSL if you dont already have it, and if so you can upgrade past that if you wish.

  5. You might have a slow internet connection or your source server is really slow. I suggest you either upgrade your internet connection and find some other download sites where you can get a faster download of CS.

    good luck!

  6. Sounds like you need an all around faster computer or a faster internet connection. If you don't wanna do that, max out the RAM and perhaps a bit higher processor... check the manufacturers website and see what the computer can handle.  Try to max it out in the places that can be upgraded.
