How do I make my computer run faster?

I have the slowest d**n computer on the face of the earth, and I want to know how to make it run faster. I've tried running Security cleanup software, but my grandmother yells at me for tying up the phone lines. What should I do? Is the fact that I use a modem effect how fast the internet runs?

If you said you're tying up phone lines, then you're probably using dial-up. Sorry, but no security cleanup software in the world can make dial-up faster.

Well, you should probably do the following: disk cleanup then defraging. If you do it about three times (depending on how long ago you've done it) then it should work a little bit faster. Also, undownload a lot of the games that you don't play or don't use. Such as some stuff that you've saved on your computer like for school (if you go), reports, forms, etc... delete pics that you're not using or looking at. then defrag it again about another three times. Dialup will be slow, regardless. Newer websites require your computer to download more images, animations, and text, and therefor your computer will seem to go slower when loading internet pages. Get dsl (its $14 a month and you don't tie up your grandma's lines) and you'll go a lot faster.

If you have a pc, download ccleaner online... All you have to do is run it 1 time and your pc is super fast! I've tried it and still have it and run it about once a month... Also, you can go to the background and screen settings and go to advanced settings and change it to max performance which will also speed up your computer.
