How do I make my damaged portion of wall match the texture of the rest of the wall?

I removed a chair rail. It left gashes out of the dry wall and will need to be textured.

  1. They make a texture in a spray can at Lowe's or any home improvement store should have it.


  2. depending on the type of texturing try covering the spot with sheet rock mud and then take crumpled up news paper and press it in the wet sheet rock mud to try to match the texture the best you can.

  3. Get the following a small peice of sheetrock (if there is a decent hole), Cut a hole through the sheetrock, put a peice of sheetrock the same size as the hole into the hole, plaster over it with puddy and a puddy knife, wait a few hours for the puddy to cure, repeate one more time, sand and repeat if it isnt level, and paint over it with the same color.
