  1. huh

  2. As long as it is up and high, you don't need more spin.  More spin could also cause the ball to go out of control again if you are not careful.

  3. You don't need to get it to spin faster normally. However, if it's a hard hit ball and you want to put all that power into the spin, you're going to have to "be soft". Basically, right as the ball hits, your elbows should bend and your wrists should snap upwards. My coach always says, "The more powerful and low to the ground it is, the more you have to break your wrists"

There's no reason you'd want to make it spin faster on anything but a dig against a hard-hit ball. A free ball or roll shot does not need to be jaystroked at all.

  4. First its just a J-Stroke for the shape your arms/wrist do: down and turn up, and Second, give your setter a break, you do not want alot of spin, that is the opposite of what is good.  If what you mean is how do I get my J-Stroke to be more effective and go straight up (instead of back over the net), GET LOWER, if you are UNDER the ball you will pass it upwards instead of forwards

  5. You really don't want it to spin at all.  It's much more difficult for a setter to set a spinning ball.  If you are having trouble keeping the ball on your side while using the J-stroke, you need to get lower, and move faster to the ball.  Make sure you run through while using the J-stroke.  don't stop your feet, run through the ball and bend your elbows and this will help keep it on your side.

  6. Here's my question.  Why would you "want" to make your J-stroke (or J-pass) with more spin?  Do you "want" to make it harder for your setter to handle your pass?

If you're talking about on the third contact, sure. Okay.  Just before the point of contact, curl your arms during the swing.

  7. flick your wrist upward quicker...that will help get some spin on the ball

  8. Try hitting it at a different angle, if you want a serious spin, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, you can hit through the ball, and "j" your arms through the ball, but instead of that, try to get further up on the ball, and swing with a more "umph".  Make sure you are jaying your arms.

  9. wats a jaystroke?
