I am searching for a way to make my own hair bow display cards that I can make myself. I am planning to sell my hair bows at a Fall Festival in October. I want these display cards to have slits to slide the hair bows in and I want to be able to place my business name on it and my other information on it too.

  1. Buy color cardstock from a computer printing store such as office max and then create a logo and what info you want it to say on it and print it out. Then just cut little slits in them and they will look great!! You can do many different sizes this way. Enough for one bow, two bows or multiple of bows based on how you want to sell. Good luck! I have been thinking of doing the exact same thing.

  2. Start with an oval or a rectangle, held sideways.  About 1/3 the way down, use a sharp craft knife to make your horizontal slit.  At each end, make a short vertical slit.  This lets the clip poke through the card, and lets the 'flaps' of the card close back in to hold it in place.  By coming only 1/3 the way down, you leave yourself space to add info without having it look "overbalanced" one way or the other.

Once you get a prototype working easily, get the heaviest paper (coverstock, cardstock, etc) you can find the your printer will accept.   Play with various designs and get all your info into the bottom 1/4 of the oval or rectangle.  See if you can manage to get a line around the edge of your shape.  If so, cut about 1/8" outside that line, so you have a frame.  It gives a much more professional and finished look.  Print it out and cut it out.

  3. How creative do you want to be?  I mean, you can print on index cards the info you want, and use an exacto knife to cut your slits to put the clips in.

If you want to be really creative, print a face/head of a girl.  Attach some braided yarn to it to act as hair and clip the barretts to the "hair".  Print your info on the back.

  4. Buy some unlined index cards.  I'm assuming you can also buy a customised stamp for your business info.  Good Luck!
