  1. I dont know how to actually make a radio station. But I know a way you could broadcast. You should do a podcast. Upload it on itunes. Good Luck!

  2. It would appear to me that you are referring to internet radio (if there is such a thing).  Never mind that...

They're many resources to help you start your own internet station.  Although it also appears that you may not know enough about what goes into an internet based music service.  You might need to do research beforehand...a lot of it.  It is beyond the scope of my answer (and this forum) to give you detailed information about how this works.  Much goes into broadcasting a stream and scripting a site on top of that.  I have been streaming my own station for just a year now, and it took me 7 years to get it running like I wanted it (some in much less time, but I'm a perfectionist).  Plus you will need money to start everything.  Streaming is very expensive.  Licensing the performance to the four organizations that are involved with licensing with is also very expensive now and you have to do accounting and make reports to send it every quarter.  You probably would not want to pay for everything by yourself, so you will need advertisers.  You will also do reports for them that way you can get paid.

There's is SO MUCH MORE information about this topic, but like I said before, you need to do research and contact people that can help you.  I can recommend one site (http://spacialaudio.com ), but please go to other places and read.  This isn't really the place for that kind of explantion.  Naturally, I don't know what your experience is with computers and other technology, so I don't really know where to start.  But I started where I thought I should.  Hope that this will help you a little.

  3. How big is the area you want to cover? We used to cover about 80 miles in the UK, and used 150 watts with a high gain, half wave vertical antenna.

You could buy a transmitter off ebay, type in fm broadcast transmitter PLL.

You'll need your audio source, we used 2 cd players, 2 turntables and 2 mini disc players.

You will then need your audio processed so it doesn't sound flat, a limiter so you don't distort or over deviate, stereo encoder (unless you prefer mono as the signal will sound better mono than when it weakens at distance in stereo). An RDS unit to display the station name on radios.

Now the tricky bit. Do you want the transmitter to be in the studio Or do you want to link? By linking, you can situate the transmitter a few miles from the studio, so when authorities come, it's the transmitter they find and not the studio, which gives you chance to switch off and move.

Wire these up in this order.

    Audio sources.

    Audio Limiter

Sound Processing (can use normal graphic equalizer)

    RDS Unit

    Stereo Encoder (If needed)

    Transmitter.

  4. Well, checked out that site and the radio was "down." It's not a good idea. there are so many and most aren't very good.

To do anything other than online requires a license and as others have pointed out - it's not cool to do it without.

Pandemonium, chaos and interference being the main reasons why pirates are not welcome in the broadcast community. And the engineers have long memories and keep track of such things. So, some of these young pirates, when they decide to go straight, may find it difficult to find a real job in real radio.

  5. You build a transmitter or buy a kit and build it from that. You hook the transmitter to the proper type of antenna.

Then you hook the transmitter to an audio source - such as a computer or mp3 player, and broadcast on the desired frequency.

These are *illegal*, by the way, so it's not a good idea even to try. That's why you don't see most people running their own radio station.

And, incidentally, this is kind of what 'pirate radio' is. The FCC doesn't like people like them.
