  1. Using diffused light sources when taking the original shot is the first step. Softboxes are my choice for diffusing strobes. The skin softening can be a combination of things, soft light sources, good makeup, and sometimes some post processing. Look for an effect referred to as "dreamglow" to give you some ideas. It's a combination of gaussian blur and noise elements added in. A diffuser filter when shooting is an option, but is easily duplicated in software now and leaves you stuck with a diffused image and no options. There is also a plug-in from Kodak Professional called Gem Airbrush which gives a good smoothing effect on the skin.

  2. That effect can definitely be created in photoshop, if you lack the right camera or equipment.  Hope I could be of help! =]

  3. I don't understand your question but I'll take a shot.

The picture was probably shot from above the model, either the photographer was taller or a ladder was used.

A wide angle lens was used (16-35)

If a filter was used it could have been a diffuser or a Tiffen FX or the effect was created in post production using Photoshop or Tiffen FX software

    Hope this helps

  4. Actually that image is tack sharp ... Maybe what you want is an image that is pastel.

That is done when pre visualizing the image before you shoot it.  You will have to do some "art direction" before you take such shots.

This is not something done easily in post production.

  5. nice shorts =-)

  6. Hi Sabrina

First of all, the makeup is what makes it look soft since you hardly see the pores on the face. Don't forget that the hair contrasting the face makes the photo look soft in look only.

As Fhtotoace puts it, you have to pre-visualize it before shooting. Having said this, that image was photo-shoppe in some parts. Look at the right side of the head.
