I want to be able to predict things better. I want to have a better chance of predicting what will happen before it happens so I can prepare myself for it... Any suggestions?

  1. predict things more oftenly, you will get better at it with time and practice

  2. Get a thorough analysis of the behavior of what you want to predict.  You need to have high statistical confidence in your measurement system and enough understanding of mathematics that you can apply the appropriate model.  If you are trying to predict how long it will take ice to melt in your freezer (or similar physical/chemical processes) you can get pretty darn good (think about how well NASA predicts where a space craft will be years and years after it is launched towards Jupiter).  If you are talking about predicting when lighting will strike your chimney or if someone will ask you for a date, all the practice in the world will not help you improve your guesses.  good luck

  3. Buy a better glass sphere...

  4. firstly estimate what is percentage of predictability. Afterthat you have to consider everything you know about the issue and go by the method of elimintion.
