Ok, heres the story. I recently bought my computer off tigerdirect.com. I turned it on and everything was working properly, but i realized there was no microsoft word program. then i had a free thing come with my computer for windows vista. i installed that and found out microsoft word wasn't on that either. (now i know it just doesn't come with it) then i got rid of windows vista, un-installed it, and re-installed windows xp. after that my speakers dont work. they are plugged in, turned on, and when i go into my computer and click sound settings it says that i don't have audio device at all when it's plugged in. please, can someone help!!!???

  1. Your sound card may not be installed. Right-click My Computer, go to the Hardware tab, and click on Device Manager. Then under the Sound, video and game controllers area, make sure that your audio card is installed. If not, reinstall it.

  2. More than likely you'll need to find out what type of audio card is in your system, go to that manufacturer's website, and download the appropriate drivers for Window XP.

  3. It sounds like you may need to re-install the drivers for the sound card that is in the computer.

If you right click on the My Computer Icon and then choose the System tab and then go into Device Manager there might be something with either a yellow ? or a Red X on it.

Try to find your sound card in there and install it, and then they should work again.
