  1. i play the alto sax(obviously) and i just learned how to play vibrato.  but i do know some good ways to help you get your vibrato in.

what your concern is that you dont know how vibrato sounds like and i think that i can help you.  say "ahhhh" and hold that out.  now, while saying "ahhh" bang your back against the back of a steady chair or a couch.  remember to keep saying "ahhh".  now get into a rythm.  now what you should be saying is "ahhh yahhh yahhh yahhh".  now, it will be a little harder and youll have to grow into it, but start singing and act like your saying "ahhh yahhh yahhh".  now, do it faster and that is how to do vibrato and that is what vibrato sounds like.  if i didnt help, look it up on google or get a voice teacher.  hope i helped!

  2. Some people have it, some people don't.  It's nothing to worry about.  If you force it you're going to end up hurting yourself.  More than likely, as you strengthen your diaphragm and muscles and learn to breathe, it will just happen.

For myself, the vibrato came after learning NOT to back off at the end of words and phrases, but rather, to push harder.  :)  It's different for everyone.

  3. Well, vibrato is mainly a natural thing, some people have it and some don't. But, of course, there are ways to manipulate the sound of your voice. When I sing, the vibrato comes when I "release" the note. Meaning you sing a note with a lot of energy and force, then you back off the pushing, and it creates vibrato. Sorry, that probably doesn't make a lot of sense. :) Also, I have no idea how old you are. IF you are younger than 16-ish, it's pretty normal to have not developed your vibrato yet. Good luck!
