  1. theres a option to change it to just INVITES, And it woulnt be Advertised in groups, BUT........ BUT.......... Once you DO that, you cant change it back,  Be carefull of that, Unless its a Private Group Where You Only Invite ..............

  2. Sign in to your group.

    Click on Management.

    Underneath Group Settings, Click Membership.

To the right of "Membership Type and Welcome message, click "Edit".

To the right of "Membership Type", select "Restricted (you approve all requests for membership)".

    Click "Save Changes".

Note:  If you only want people that you invite to join your group, go through the above steps and select "Closed (only invited members can join)"   If you select this option, web tools that were previously set to "public" will be restricted to members only. Once you have selected this option, you may NOT change it later.  Also, if you select Closed, you will have to send "Invites" to prospective members using the Invite feature located on the left side of the screen when viewing your group's site.  You will need to know the prospective members' email addresses so you can send the Invites.

Due to the nature of your group, if you have not already done so, you should consider limiting access to the Messages/Archives to "Members Only".

    Click Management.

Under Group Settings, click on Messages.

Scroll down to Posting and Archives and click Edit.

    Under Archive Options, select Members.

    Click Save Changes.

  3. management- under group settings click membership- Membership Type and Welcome Message (Edit) <-- click the edit-

    * Restricted (you approve all requests for membership) <-- I'd suggest this one

    * Closed (only invited members can join) If you select this option, web tools that were previously set to "public" will be restricted to members only. Once you have selected this option, you may not change it later. <-- invites are glitchy

    choose- click save changes
