How do I make new friends?

I transferred from my old school and this year I'm going to a new one. I like the school, but I'm nervous about meeting new people because I'm really shy. What are some good ways to get friends?

check people out first and then when u see someone that u would like to talk to just go up to them and ask them maybe stuff like school projects or is it ok to set with you at lunch time?

Honey I've moved THREE times during high school. It WILL be difficult to be the new kid, BUT you WILL get through it and make new friends.

Just smile, say hi, and ask an interesting question or make a compliment.

"Nice _____."

"What other classes are you in?"

"Have you heard anything about this class? Is it hard?"

Just make conversation. If you open up, others will do the same.

Sometimes, it's hard to make friends when groups have already formed. If you're trying to make friends with some people and they're not being nice to you, brush it off and move on. Don't get hung up on it. Keep a smile on your face, stay open and warm.... and soon you'll find yourself a nice, dependable group of friends.
