  1. this is how to make a gallon pitcher of iced tea..... bring a couple quarts of water to a boil in a pan with a good sealing lid.  Remove boiling water from burner, add 10 regular size tea bags, cover and let sit for one hour.  Add ice to pitcher, about 1/2 full, remove tea bags from pan, add the brewed tea to the pitcher, fill the rest with water and there you have a perfect brewed pitcher of tea.  Sweeten to taste and enjoy!

  2. I'm sorry if this is repeat advice, because to be honest I didn't read all the other answers....

I work in a tea store, and the best way to brew good iced tea, is to not use all those fancy methods of overbrewing the tea, adding ice, using twice as many tea bags/leaves....

The best way is to brew your tea exactly how you'd like it hot, maybe only slightly stronger (like one extra teaspoon of loose leaf tea for a four cup teapot..meaning five instead of four teaspoons)  Allow the tea to brew for the correct time for that type of tea (3 minutes for green,3-5 for most oolongs, 5 for black, 7-10 for herbals/teasans/rooibos)

Sweeten as desired, and add lemon as desired, then Chill in the fridge.

After its chilled serve in a glass with ice.

Thats how we do it at the tea shop. Consistant results everytime.....

I really reccomend a Lemon Flavoured Green Rooibos, and if you can come across flavorued sugars using Lemon Flavoured Sugar.... Soo tasty.

  3. I echo 40-something's answer, although I add raspberries to the steeping part, it is so good with that added flavor!

  4. boil the kettle ,make normal tea ,but very strong ,then add honey some slices of lemon  and chopped fresh mint if you have it ,if not dried will do then pour it into ice-cube trays, freeze to  set then  when you want some add  a couple to a tall glass and add cold water . can be made and stored ,well ahead of time. for traveling i make it the same way and half fill a recycable small plastic  bottle ,freeze it then top up with water just before i leave home, it melts slowly so i have cold tea for a longer time.
