How do I make sure all of my friends and family are invited to my surprise baby shower?

Hi, I am pregnant with my second child. My daughter is 14 yo, so I obviously have to start all over in the baby supplies area. My in-laws are fanatical about babies! And have been waiting years for my hubby and I to have a baby together.(daughter is from a previous relationship.) I'm pretty sure that they will be throwing us a Jack and Jill style surprise shower. How do I make sure that they invite all of the friends and family that we would like there? They don't know all of our friends. Also, most of my family and friends live out of the area and don't have any relationship with them. just don't want anyone to be left out but I also don't want to seem pretentious or spoiled handing them a list of names and addresses of my wanted guests. Like, "I know you will be throwing us a surprise shower, so I just wanted to make sure you had the names and addresses of all my friends and family that should be invited." YUCK! Any suggestions??

This is one of those rare cases where the Dad has to make sure everyone is invited since you are supposed to be surprised.  He, however, doesn't have to be surprised and it would be very surprising if plans were made without his input on who to invite.

Get your husband to "steal" your mobile for a few hours and just ask him to invite the people you want, it all seems legit that way = )

how about the next time you go and visit and they ask how you've been doing. Tell them you've been working on a list for the shower and if they hint hing something then you can give it to them. Maybe they'll ask your husband to "steal' it from you so they can see it...
