Question:

How do I make the phone harassment go away?

its either a wrong number (that will repeatedly keep calling after the fact), or is some type of advertisement or promotion thing, or its some stupid company harassing my mom, sometimes the phone company over miscommunication or some stupid promotion or always something.

the company refuses to do anything about it...so we cant block anything. and these calls happen about 20 times between 7 in the morning to 7 at night.

it gets so bad that lately i have to dismantle the cordless phone just so we can get peace and quiet...but then its when we do that, the important calls come and we miss them cause of the idiots harrassing us.

we are unable to get a caller ID at the moment so that option is out along with blocking...my mom does not like cellphones, so she refuses to do that....how do i make it all stop...im to the point of cursing at them telling them, that repeated calling every hour does not change anything.

help!!!!

  1. if its someone trying to sell you something or some promotion thing tell the sales person to take your number off the call list, if you tell them they legally have to stop calling same if its some debt collector. If its someone that is just prank calling you im sorry but i dont know what to tell you. but answer the call and if it is a telemarketer just tell them youd like them to stop calling. Good Luck!

  2. By law if you tell them to stop calling, they have to. Also, you may want to research the phone harassment laws in your state. In Oregon the laws are that they cannot attempt to contact you in excess of 3 times a day, if they do it's considered harassment and is a direct violation of the law.

You can also tell them that if they continue to contact you, you will be forced to contact the police and file harassment against them. If they persist, you are then within your legal right to contact the police.

If it's a collection agency, contact the Federal Trade Commission. They passed a law called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) which regulates the times, amount and manner of calls you can receive.

It is also a law that companies are not permitted to contact you outside of the times 8AM and 8PM... if they are calling you at 7AM, they are breaking the law.

Confront them with this information. If they persist they are knowingly breaking the law and you can take legal action.

  3. *57 traces the call

After 3 calls then the phone company will do something about it.
